If you've been following my writing journey, then you already know I'm an online creator taking a go at it as an indie poet. For those unfamiliar, I am a curated Medium writer and multi-award-winning Vocal Media creator whose first love is poetry. Poetry is my art, allowing me to express all the things I cannot say.
Deeply inspired by Carl Jung's archetypes, my debut chapbook, Shadow's Reprieve, is dedicated to the primary archetypes, Persona, Shadow, and Self. My verses come from highly emotional moments of personal reflection; from the short-term past to decades before. What began as a personal healing project and poem on Vocal Media quickly evolved into a must-do self-publishing journey when my poem became a top story. I felt resonating energy from strangers. It felt welcoming. Like maybe I needed to continue. It just so happens that this poem was based on Carl Jung's depth psychology.
A light bulb went off. It appeared I had much to say, much more than I could ever imagine.

I needn't speak; he receives my notes
"I miss you," "I think about you"
pop up in song lyrics
words on a billboard
sudden waves of emotion
memories of us unpacked in quotes
dreams too real to be only dreams
soul aligned beyond boundary lines
resonance minus reason; out-of-season
theatrics tailored to true-to-life themes
a longing landline
words unspoken, akin to his spirit woken
Who would have thought that one simple poem would send me down this journey? But it did. One poem speaking to a person from my past who impacted my life more than they will ever know.

How a Work Related Accident Enhanced My Literary Ambitions

I had many rooms to inspect, which wasn't extraordinary, just part of my job. While rushing up a flight of stairs, my foot landed wrong, resulting in instant knee pain, and within days, I realized I'd be out of work for a while. I was forced to resign my position due to a medial meniscus tear. Months went by waiting for surgery, navigating unemployment, workers' comp, and much discomfort, but during it all, my literary ambitions returned. That certain twinkle returned to my writer's eye, and I realized that the dream was still alive. Yes, the dream despite being in my early fifties!
